WHAT IS BMR
Your BMR (Basal Metabolic Rate) is an estimate of how many calories you would burn if you were to do nothing but rest for 24 hours. It represents the minimum amount of energy needed to keep your body functioning, including breathing and keeping your heart beating.

You can calculate your Basal Metabolic Rate with calculator tool. Your BMR is the amount of energy you expend each day when at rest. Gender, age, height and weight are important for this calculation.
HOW TO CALCULATE BMR
The BMR formula uses the variables of height, weight, age and gender to calculate the Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR). This tool then uses the Harris Benedict Equation to determine your total daily energy expenditure (calories).
HOW TO CHECK BMR
Basal metabolic rate is the amount of energy expressed in calories that a person needs to keep the body functioning at rest. Some of those processes are breathing, blood circulation, controlling body temperature, cell growth, brain and nerve function, and contraction of muscles.
WHAT IS THE AVERAGE BMR
BMR is based on many factors, including age and gender. For a 28-year-old woman and 30-year-old man, average BMRs may be 1586.5 and 2108, respectively.
WHAT DOES IT INCREASE BMR
Body size: Metabolic rate increases as weight, height, and surface area increase. Body composition: Fat tissue has a lower metabolic activity than muscle tissue. As lean muscle mass increases, metabolic rate increases. Gender: The basal metabolic rate (BMR) averages 5 to 10 percent lower in women than in men.

BODY MASS INDEX (BMI)
WHAT IS BMI
BMI compares your weight to your height, and is calculated by dividing your weight in kilograms by your height in meters squared. It gives you an idea of whether you’re underweight, a healthy weight, overweight, or obese for your height. BMI is one type of tool to help health professionals to assess risk for chronic disease. Another important tool is waist circumference. It is also important to understand your other risk factors.
HOW DO YOU FIND BMI
BMI is your weight (in kilograms) over your height squared (in centimeters). Let's calculate, however, using pounds and inches. For instance, the BMI of a person who is 5'3" and weighs 125 lbs is calculated as follows: Multiply the weight in pounds by 0.45 (the metric conversion factor)
HOW DO YOU MEASURE BMI
Calculate Your Body Mass Index. Body mass index (BMI) is a measure of body fat based on height and weight that applies to adult men and women. Enter your weight and height using standard or metric measures. Select "Compute BMI" and your BMI will appear below.
WHAT IS THE BEST BMI
Current guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and the World Health Organization, define a normal BMI range as 18.5 to 24.9. Overweight is defined as 25 or higher; obesity is 30 or higher; and severe obesity is 35 and up
HOW TO CALCULATE BMI FORMULA
Calculate BMI by dividing weight in pounds (lbs) by height in inches (in) squared and multiplying by a conversion factor of 703. For adults 20 years old and older, BMI is interpreted using standard weight status categories that are the same for all ages and for both men and women.
CALCULATE YOUR BMI
BMI is a useful measurement for most people over 18 years old. But it is only an estimate and it doesn't take into account gender, age, ethnicity and body composition. We recommend you also check your waist measurement, and other risk factors. Speak to your doctor, an Accredited Practicing Dietitian or a health practitioner about your weight. This calculator shouldn't be used for pregnant women or children.
